DESCRIPTION OF SAFEFUTURES
YOUTH CENTER:
SafeFutures Youth Center (SFYC) is
a multi-service organization providing a variety of engaging
programs and activities for youth in the greater Seattle and
White Center area. SFYC provides a range of culturally and
linguistically appropriate educational, advocacy, support, and
intensive counseling/case management programs and services to
refugee and immigrant youth and their families, at-risk youth,
and serious juvenile offenders. Staff uses a strengths-based
approach to develop community leadership skills and to address
social/behavioral, academic, peer and family issues.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Fund Development Manager will
report to SFYC’s Executive Director and will be responsible for
the management and oversight of all fundraising/development
activities in accordance with SFYC’s goals, objectives and
strategic plan. This position will also ensure that compliance
with all grant related guidelines and requirements are
achieved. Specific responsibilities include:
Grant Writing and Financial
Compliance Tracking:
§
Research, identify
and develop relationships with foundations, corporations and
governments
§
Prepare and submit
average of 20-25 grant proposals per year
§
Prepare grant
forecasting on an annual basis
§
Monitor grant awards
to ensure SFYC’s programs are in contractual compliance
§
Conduct fiscal
oversight of each grant (monitoring actual versus proposed
expenses)
§
Review and oversee
grant draw downs
§
Oversee subcontract
and consulting agreements and their reporting requirements
§
Write and submit
regular reports for funders
Other General Duties:
§
Oversee and manage
donor tracking and donor recognition activities
§
Oversee organization
and implementation of development/fundraising training’s and
related workshops for staff and Board of Directors
§
Staff Board Fund
Development Meetings
§
Coordinate and
implement Board of Directors fundraising events
§
Review and oversee
all of SFYC’s publications and other related products
§
Develop media and
marketing strategies, including agency newsletter
§
Develop income
projections during annual budget planning process including long
term resources
§
Attend fundraising
conferences and trainings
§
Other duties may be
assigned
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant has a four year
college degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit
Management, Public Affairs/Administration, Social/Human
Services, Public Health, or related field. Masters degree
preferred. A minimum of 2-4 years of solid upward progression
and professional experience including preparing proposals and
managing grants. (Note: years of education and experience may
be substituted for one another). Must have excellent oral and
written communication skills, technical/computing skills, be
detail-oriented and be comfortable in a collaborative
environment. Skills and knowledge in designing and maintaining
donor database a plus. Must have a demonstrated ability to
manage multiple projects with minimal supervision, work under
pressure, and meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills.
Ability to collaborate and work with diverse group of people,
regardless of age, ethnic/racial background, economic status,
etc. Knowledge of local communities SFYC serves and local
community providers and services.

Academic Services Coordinator
SALARY:

POSITION DESCRIPTION |
|
Under
the supervision of the Program Manager for the
SafeFutures Youth Center, provide creative educational
support to middle and high school youths of diverse
backgrounds who are at-risk of being or involved in the
juvenile justice system and/or academic failure. This
position will require some work during evenings and
occasional weekends.
|
|
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
|
§
Develop and lead peer group workshops and activities
based on current and past issues which impact youth.
§
Provide homework assistance and tutoring.
§
Assist
clients to achieve positive outcomes, including,
academic placement and employment training.
§
Create
academic motivational tools i.e. maintain higher
education information board (scholarships, universities,
and colleges) and SFYC Student Top Achiever Boards
(middle and high school).
§
Coordinate with SFYC programs to ensure appropriate
placement of youth and consistent participation in
various out-of-school time activities.
§
Plan
and conduct workshops about
Washington Assessment of Student Learning
(WASL),
higher education, scholarships, application processes,
school visits, and financial aid.
§
Conduct outreach and present programs to local community
and schools.
§
Collect student Source information, attendance records,
and transcripts.
§
Monitor and develop tracking process to evaluate
students’ academic achievement and skill building
progress through progress/report cards and attendance
records.
§
Collect Source information and data, transcripts,
progress/report cards, and attendance records.
§
Supervise and be responsible for the general safety of
students in program functions and activities.
§
Work
collaboratively with staff to maintain a system of
positive reinforcement and sequential, consistent, and
progressive consequences.
§
Attend
SFYC staff meetings, consortium/partner meetings,
trainings, conferences, and other similar events.
§
Perform other relevant duties as necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS |
|
§
Two
years of direct social service experience with low
income, at-risk youth and their families; and/or
experience providing any of the essential functions
listed above; AND a Bachelor’s Degree in social work,
counseling, education or related social services field
(Master’s Degree preferred or a combination of education
and/or training and/or work experience which provides
the ability to perform the essential functions of the
position).
§
Good
written and verbal communication skills. Working
knowledge of computers and computer systems.
§
Valid
Washington State Drivers License, safe/clean driving
record, and ability to drive a 15 passenger van.

Ability to gather, analyze, and use data to create,
manage, and evaluate various programs to meet the needs
of youth. Demonstrated ability to develop and operate
youth peer groups and activities; ability to relate well
with youth at-risk and take leadership roles with youth;
ability to develop and implement academic and social
skill building curriculum; knowledge of Asset
Development model; knowledge of different cultures and
refugee/immigrant history and relevant issues which
impact the minority community; knowledge of the juvenile
justice system and the public school system; extensive
knowledge of alcohol/drug, mental health, and youth gang
issues; knowledge and life experience within the
Southeast Asian and/or refugee/immigrant communities;
strong written and oral communication skills.
